Surrey off-spinner Amar Virdi has joined Worcestershire on loan for their County Championship game against Durham, starting from Sunday, 30 June.

Worcestershire will take on Durham at Chester-le-Street in the last round of four-day cricket of this block before the Vitality Blast returns.

The Pears are ninth in Division One standings with 72 points and Durham are fourth with 99 points. Last week, Worcestershire lost at home to Surrey while Durham drew against Essex at Chelmsford.

Virdi, 25, came through Surrey Academy and has represented the Three Feathers in 40 first-class games, taking 123 wickets. This season, he has claimed 11 wickets for the Second XI across formats.

Alec Stewart, Director of Men’s Cricket at Surrey Cricket, said: “This will be a good opportunity for Amar to test himself against a good-quality Durham side. We wish him the best, and will be keeping our eyes on the game and following his performance.”
