Surrey have signed three players to join the new women’s team for the 2025 season; Alice Davidson-Richards, Paige Scholfield and Alexa Stonehouse have all penned deals to play at the Kia Oval for the Club.

The trio of players join Bryony Smith in committing to play for the new fully, professional team that will represent the Three Feathers.

All-rounder Davidson-Richards is a hugely experienced player and has represented England in all three formats including a stunning century on Test debut against South Africa in 2022. She has been a crucial part of the South East Stars dressing room leadership group for four years, recently passing 50 appearances for the side.

South-African born Paige Scholfield joined the South East Stars in 2023 and quickly showed her skillset with two centuries in three fixtures in the 50-over Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy. A clean ball-striker, Paige is also a handy bowler with nearly 100 wickets in T20 and 50-over cricket.

Exciting young quick Alexa Stonehouse made her debut for the South East Stars in 2021 and has impressed with bat and ball. She represented the Trent Rockets in the 2023 edition of the Hundred as well as playing for England in the U19 World Cup in 2023.

Emma Calvert, Director of Women’s Cricket at Surrey, said “These are three excellent additions to the squad for next year. Alice brings a lot of class, quality and experience to the side and has been a champion for the Stars’ culture.

“Paige has shown what a top performer she is for several years and has played important innings throughout her time at the Stars. Alexa is a really exciting prospect and she is developing at a rapid rate having come through the Star’s Academy, progressing on to represent the senior side.”

Alice Davidson-Richards said “This is an exciting time for the women’s game and it’s the right time for this step to develop the professional game in line with the county system. I was so keen to stay a part of this set up that has built a brilliant culture and I’m looking forward to representing Surrey and giving my best for the team.”

Paige Scholfield said “To be able to call the Kia Oval home is something which is going to be incredible. Surrey has a great history of women’s cricket and we can’t wait to a part of the future of the club.”

Alexa Stonehouse said “The South East Stars set up has helped me to develop my skills and continue to progress in the game. I wanted to carry on that development and am really pleased to get the opportunity to do so playing for Surrey.”
