LAST TIME OUT

On matchday two, Surrey defeated Kent and Sussex with back-to-back measured performances at Hove.

In game one, the Three Feathers saw off Kent by six wickets with seven balls to spare. Amy Gordon starred with the bat and ball, scoring a quick-fire 47 off 38 balls, having claimed an excellent 3/14 in the first innings. Chasing 124, Bethan Miles wrapped up the victory with an unbeaten 18 from 11 balls.

In the first innings, taking five wickets in the opening ten overs, Surrey put the brakes on Kent, who eventually ended with 123 for seven from their 20 overs. Gordon’s excellent spell and Claudie Cooper’s 1/19 helped Surrey contain Kent’s score.

In the second game of the day, following the same strategy of restricting their opponents and pacing their chase well, Surrey overcome Sussex by five wickets with an over to spare.

Anna Lewis (2/16), Laura Bailey (1/6), and Daisy Feast (1/22) were brilliant with the ball, keeping Sussex to 120 for four.

After a steady start from the top order, Priyanaz Chatterji came in at five and aced the chase with a match-winning, unbeaten 39 from 32 balls.
