Cricket fans living with dementia in Surrey have a special invite to the LV=Insurance County Championship match against Warwickshire at The Kia Oval.
Free tickets are available for those living with dementia and their carers and families to attend days two to four of Surrey’s crucial match in the County Championship. Attendees will have access to unreserved seating in the JM Finn Stand as well as a quiet area for supporters to sit inside.
After similar successful events last year, Surrey County Cricket Club are continuing their partnership with Alzheimer’s Society to transform the way sport supports people affected by dementia, as part of the charity’s Sport United Against Dementia (SUAD) campaign.
With more than 17,000 people estimated to be living with dementia in Surrey, SUAD aims to end the stigma faced by those in the sporting community whom dementia affects, by creating a network of dementia friendly facilities so people can enjoy sport for longer.
The event is also raising awareness of the symptoms of dementia, so that anyone worried about their memory will go home knowing how to take the next step towards a diagnosis.
