Ahead of the start of the Vitality Blast, Surrey’s Lead Physiotherapist Alex Tysoe has provided an update on the current injury situation in the professional squad.
As well as Reece Topley – who suffered a side strain last week – Sean Abbott who damaged his hamstring in the LV= Insurance County Championship match with Gloucestershire and has had to return home to Australia and Ben Foakes, who recently damaged his hamstring – the following players are currently unavailable for selection.
Liam Plunkett is unavailable due to a calf strain that was sustained when playing Second XI cricket in April.
Nico Reifer is unavailable due to hand injury sustained recently while playing Second XI cricket earlier this month.
James Taylor is unavailable due to a side strain sustained while playing Second XI cricket in May and, latterly, a viral illness.
Jade Dernbach is continuing to build fitness in Second XI cricket.
Nick Kimber is continuing to recover from a recent viral illness.
Gus Atkinson is continuing to recover from a recent knee injury and, latterly, a viral illness.
