LAST TIME OUT
In the last game before the Vitality Blast break, Surrey beat the same opposition by ten wickets at The Kia Oval.
Dan Worrall, Jordan Clark and Tom Lawes took three wickets apiece as Surrey bowled Kent out for 278 in the first innings. Kent all-rounder Joey Evison top-scored with 77 not out.
Despite Dom Sibley’s gritty 60, Surrey were in trouble at 180/6. However, Kent’s nemesis Sean Abbott smashed 78, while Gus Atkinson smashed quick-fire 55 not out – which included three consecutive sixes, as Surrey remarkably posted 362.
A dramatic finale to the second day saw Kent slip from 78/1 to 80/4 as Tom Lawes wreaked havoc. The young all-rounder would go on to take his first professional five-wicket haul the following morning, claiming career-best figures of 5/22 as Kent were dismissed for 141.
Rory Burns (36*) and Dom Sibley (16*) guided Surrey to a ten-wicket victory before lunch on day three to keep Surrey top of the table.
KENT
Kent sit second bottom of Division One of the LV= Insurance County Championship, having only won their opening fixture of the 2023 season against Northamptonshire.
Their two draws have come at The Spitfire Ground against Essex and Hampshire. However, they have lost their three away games at Warwickshire, Middlesex and Surrey.
Ben Compton sits top of the batting averages with 43.60 from 11 innings.
Overseas all-rounder Wes Agar has taken the most wickets with 12 so far this season. However, the Kent bowling attack will be boosted with the arrival of IPL superstar Arshdeep Singh.
