Surrey’s Ollie Pope and Ben Foakes have been selected for the first two games of England’s LV= Insurance Test series against South Africa.
Batting at three under England’s new regime, Pope has scored 277 runs at an average of just under 35 including a century against New Zealand at Trent Bridge.
This summer, Foakes has averaged 35.6 including an important half century in the same innings as Pope’s ton at Trent Bridge. Foakes returns to the squad after missing the India Test Match with Covid.
