ECB WOMEN’S 50-OVER COUNTY COMPETITON

This will be Sussex’s first fixture in this competition.

In Surrey’s season opener, Priya Khatkar (5/10) and Charlotte Stubbs (3/13) wreaked havoc with the ball, skittling Hampshire for 101, before the batters aced the chase inside 17 overs, with Stubbs (34*) top-scoring, to round off a perfect day for The Three Feathers.

LAST TIME OUT

Surrey’s last outing in a 50-over game was against Kent at Beckenham in the London Championship, where the Three Feathers claimed the most dramatic of victories, defeating the hosts in the last over by one wicket.

The win came on the back of an incredible 153-run partnership between centurion Maddie Blinkhorn-Jones and Charlotte Stubbs. Chasing a target of 267, the pair put on a clinic of positive batting, dealing mostly in boundaries, before Kent fought back with quick wickets.

The scores were level, with four balls remaining in the match, when Izzy Kirby missed her mark against Surrey’s last batter and the visitors completed a famous win with a wide ball.

Debutant Izzy Sidhu was the pick of Surrey’s bowlers, taking 2 for 34, whilst Coco Streets (63) and Genevieve Jeer (52) did the brunt of the scoring for Kent.
