Surrey cricketer Bethan Miles has signed her first professional contract with the South East Stars.

Bethan, who took up cricket at her primary school before developing through the Buckinghamshire age group set up, played her first game for the Stars last weekend and picked up three wickets in an excellent performance in the win over the Thunder.

The left-arm spinner joined the Surrey set up in 2021, playing in the London Championship and has played all competitions for the Three Feathers this year.

Bethan picked up the wicket of Middlesex Skipper Saskia Horley in this year’s London Cup played at The Kia Oval, an experience that she thoroughly enjoyed: “It was an amazing experience, it was my first time playing a match at the ground and to play in front of such a big crowd as well was an amazing experience.

“There were so many young age group girls there which really shows how many players are coming through and hopefully it shows them that a career in cricket is an option for them and something they can aspire to do.”

Speaking about her South East Stars debut, Bethan said “It was a bit of a shock to make my debut last week, I got my first wicket and then managed to get two more, which was an amazing feeling.

“I found out about the contract on the bus up to Loughborough, I wasn’t really expecting it all but it was really nice. I want to carry on playing for the South East Stars senior side as much as possible and just keep enjoying playing with such a great team.”
