Nathan Barnwell took five wickets as Surrey bowled Yorkshire out for 292 on the second day at York

Resuming on 31/1, Barnwell had 18-year-old batter Noah Kelly caught at first slip for 10 to leave the White Rose 70/2. 13 more runs were added before Fraine was strangled down the leg side off the bowling of Barnwell.

James Taylor got a piece of the action when Harry Duke got an edge on the ball attempting to get out the way of a short ball to leave Yorkshire 126/4.

Barnwell got his third wicket as Bennison was also caught down the leg side 30. Barnwell – who had been hitting the pitch hard all day, got his fourth wicket as Smith was beat for pace and caught behind.

Matt Fisher – who took four first innings wickets, scored 39 quick runs before Dunn beat his defences to leave Yorkshire 226/7.

Akhtar – who scored 14 boundaries on his way to 75, played one shot too many and was bowled by Seb Stuart-Reckling with the score on  273.

The last two wickets were taken for 19 runs as Stuart-Reckling had Hen-Boisen caught at first slip before Barnwell trapped Ben Cliff lbw to give him his fifth wicket and round the innings off for 292.

Yorkshire took a 96 run lead into the final two overs, which were safely negotiated by Surrey openers Fraine and Coyne.

Will Fraine is batting for Surrey after Ben Geddes suffered a thumb injury in the field on day one.
